the sun
hides
behind pewter clouds
while angry winds
whip
verdant palm trees and
the heavens weep.
Tomorrow
cooler, halcyon winds will prevail,
embracing
earth scoured by a monsoon,
caressing
cheeks raised to welcome the returning sunlight,
whispering
playfully through our hair.
