Off the grid

Photo by Dmitriy Frantsev on Unsplash

There’s a certain

freedom

in being

untethered

            (when your cell service is

            suspended

            due to late payments).

Off the grid

(I have thought about running away

many more times

as an adult

than I ever did

as a child.)

Untethered to social media

Who could ever find me

If I didn’t want to be found?

Off the grid

Hope Renewed

Broken heart

   broken soul

      broken spirit

         broken mind

            broken life: all torn apart…

Shattered dreams

   shattered faith

      shattered hopes

         shattered trust

shattered life: falling apart at the seams…

Worship through it all

   worship through the brokenness

      worship through the shattered bits

         worship through the tears

            worship when you fall…

Praise though you feel torn

   praise though you feel broken

      praise though you feel shattered

         praise though you’re falling apart

praise though you’re tired and worn…

He is near those that are of a broken heart

He will never leave you, nor forsake you

His strength is made perfect in your weakness

He will not put upon you more than you can bear

He heals the wounds of the broken-hearted.

Overcast

Today

the sun

hides

behind pewter clouds

while angry winds

whip

verdant palm trees and

the heavens weep.

Tomorrow

cooler, halcyon winds will prevail,

embracing

earth scoured by a monsoon,

caressing

cheeks raised to welcome the returning sunlight,

whispering

playfully through our hair.
