SOAC Emblem Reveal

Okay, so I’m a few days late in revealing the emblem that will be on the back cover of my book. Had to be sure I have the “rights” to the images, since they’re not part of the actual cover design. For those of you who have already read part (or all) of the manuscript, you’ll recognize this image and its significance….the rest of you, you’ll understand….as soon as you read the book. 😉

This image was the runner-up for cover design, and very medieval fantasy. I loved it so much I couldn’t bear to see it languish in the mire of discarded cover designs, so it’s become the emblem for this story.

Here’s it is!

Very fierce, no? I absolutely love it! Don’t be surprised to see key chains or some such engraved with this emblem in the not-so-distant future. 🙂

Serpent on a Cross – Cover Reveal

My debut novel – Serpent on a Cross – is being re-released by Booktrope (http://booktrope.com/) later this month! I’m sooo excited! This time it will be available in PRINT (Trade Softcover) as well as eBook! Squweeee!!! I decided not to use a pseudonym this time around, because once I finish writing the sequel and my books make it onto bookstore shelves (such as my local Barnes & Noble), my own last name will earn me a place on the Fantasy/Sci-Fi shelves right next to Neil Gaiman!!! THAT, ladies and gents, is the place to be for any fantasy writer worth her salt. 😉

So. In addition to a new publisher, the book has a brand new first chapter (the previous first chapter wasn’t replaced, it was simply merged into the second chapter), and other extended scenes. There’s also A NEW COVER!! I’m sooo excited about this new cover as well! The talented Loretta Matson over at Booktrope was kind enough to take on the concepts – both visual and oral – already drawn up and create something new and fresh that somehow encompassed everything I wanted in a cover for the rebirth of my Medieval/Fantasy novel. And because I can only have one cover, she made the runner up into an “emblem” for one of the characters. If you’ve already read the book, you’ll recognize right away the emblem and who it was created for. If you haven’t, then I’d love to have you purchase a copy upon its availability. 🙂 I’ll reveal the emblem tomorrow.

Now for the COVER REVEAL!

Keep going…..

Chopin’s Nocturne

Chopin’s Nocturne No. 19 in E Minor, Op. 72 No. 1 is my absolute favorite piece of classical music. I discovered it about 25 years ago, in a made-for-TV movie, of all things. The edited version so haunted me that I had to hear the entire piece. Then I had to purchase the music and learn to play it. This was back in the days when I actually PLAYED piano. And now I’m seriously considering taking up piano again. Though nocturnes have a reputation for being slightly depressing – they are played in minor keys, after all – this particular piece fits all sorts of moods for me: soothing when I’m depressed, a comforting companion on stormy days, or brings a smile to my face on quiet, slow days at work. It’s a hopeful sort of piece. Though played in minor keys, this beautifully rendered nocturne by Chopin inspires hope within me – hope that the sun will shine brilliantly after the storms (though I love storms), that tomorrow will be a new, brighter day; that anything is possible, if only I believe.
